No increase in fee for engineering colleges - Dr. Ashwathth Narayan

 


The governing body of private engineering colleges had demanded a 30 percent fee hike. However, the government has not accepted it. There will be no change in access.

Bangalore, Sep 29 (IANS) There is no hike in the fee for private engineering colleges in the backdrop of Corona, Higher Education Minister Dr Krishna Kumar said. 

He told reporters after a meeting on Wednesday with representatives of the Federation of Unaffiliated Engineering Colleges and the Federation of Language and Religious Minority Professional Colleges.

The governing body of private engineering colleges had demanded a 30 percent fee hike. However, the government has not accepted it. There will be no change in the entrance fee.

In addition, college governing bodies may not receive much money from students in the name of other fees. The other fee would not exceed 120,000, the minister said. All other colleges should submit their details to the Karnataka Testing Authority. Other fees must be paid through the authority. Then they will be transferred to the respective colleges.

Colleges can collect only the hostel and vehicle facility fees. If there is a state-of-the-art laboratory and specialized course facilities, the fee should be assessed through the Visvesvaraya Technical University. It should be obtained through the authority. In addition, the fee for the skill training is 20 thousand rupees. Khadak has instructed the college governing bodies not to exceed. Counseling for the allotment of engineering seats is scheduled to be held soon after the allotment of medical education seats through NEET examination, he added.

Engineering courses in Kannada for the first time: Four colleges in the state have come forward to offer engineering classes in Kannada medium from the current line. Higher education minister Ashwaththa Narayan said engineering education can be obtained in Kannada. 

Thirty percent of Khandre College, Balkhia College, SJC Chikkaballapur, Maharaja - Mysore and Vijayapur BLD Colleges have promised to give seats to Kannada media.
