Mumbai: A senior BCCI official has said that Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the head coach of the India team and will resign as head of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore soon.
Ravi Shastri will expire as the head coach of the ICC Twenty20 World Cup. Dravid is almost certain to join the squad as the coach of the series against New Zealand in India in November.
Rahul Dravid has played 164 Tests and 344 ODIs for India from 1996 to 2017. He is also the head of the National Cricket Academy.
Dravid will be on contract for a 2-year period till the 2023 Cricket World Cup
Dravid and Team India will be at the helm of the two-match Test series and the three-match T20 home series against New Zealand, which begins three days after the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup. It is against this backdrop that Dravid's name comes to the fore.
